Movie Pictures

                                                           Spirit Week Class of 2012
Cast Member: Antonio- Photographer, Editor
The Video was produced on May 6, 2011
Location: Robinson School, Puerto Rico
Props: Camera
Song: Jay Sean ft. Sean Paul and Lil John- “Do you Remember”
What inspired me to do this video was because of my Class and because of a video a friend of mine did of the whole class in our sixth grade graduation. Also, being Class Historian of the Class of 2012, it was a nice way to make them a video so we can be united and have great memories here at school. This video was mostly easy because in my case I focused on an event or activity done throughout a whole week of school.

Song: “Come Together” by the Beatles
What inspired us to do the first film ideas are the situations that occur now at days such as relationships, living in poverty and suddenly becoming known in society, among others. The project was not easy, especially trying to get all the shots the teacher required, also the time limit, and the editing was challenging. The movie is very complex in the sense of the different themes and situations we involved in the plot such as love, rejection, hopes, downfalls, and coincidence.

A Day In the Life of Cell Phones

This a great video because it gives a general history of phones and the person who invented this device of communication. Also it shows the cell phone from the beginning of its invention to now at days. From a big plane device to a small technologically advanced one. It presents how humans use it in everyday from charging the cell phone, text messaging, among others. It is incredible how technology advances so fast.

Movies I don't Like

Are We There Yet

Ice Cube, Nia Long, Alisha Allen
It is about Nick Persons (Ice Cube) who finds Suzanne (Nia Long) very attractive. He knows both of her children and is very repulsed by them. In a trip to Vancouver she loses both of her children and at the look out for them. In the road trip they passed to Suzanne’s ex-husband’s house and found out that Frank is a father of another child in a different relationship which worsens the situation for Suzanne and her children but makes it more convenient for Nick.
I did not learn anything, it was boring, not entertaining, and the idea was good but did not pull through. I found the movie sort of racist, with all due respect, in the way they show the situation. It is constantly talking about the same thing and does not show any themes to be frank and no complexity in the plot.
Baby Geniuses
Kathleen Turner, Peter Mckincol, Kim Cattrall, Christopher Lloyd
Two scientists, Dr. Elena Kinder and Dr. Heep use genius students for their Baby Co. theme. Children at age two learned to talk and forget about their universal knowledge. One of the toddlers Sly, escapes the Kinder Lab. He finds his twin whit in the mall playground. The guard found Whit but was mistaken by Sly. Sly is taken to Whit’s adopted mother. At the end the fight Dr. Kinder captures and takes him to the helicopter. Robin and Bobbins chases them to the roof. Dr. Kinder and Dan fight. The police capture them in the roof and Sly and Whit were able to escape.

I am not a fan of animated baby movies. Not amusing, redundant, babies acting like adults are not appealing to me, especially how it does not help in any kind of way and do not learn anything from it.
The Love Guru
Mike Myers, Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Romany Malco
Darren Roanoke suffers from stress because his wife, Prudence Roanoke left him with the French Canadian goaltender Jacques “Le Coq Grande” (Justin). Stress affects his hockey performance and his team loses. The team executive Jane Bullard enlists the support of Guru Maurice Pitka(Mike) to help Darren with his stress so his team could break the losing streak. Pitka was invited to Oprah’s show and hopes to become “the number one guru” and succeeds in getting that position.

It was not very funny and dense. No good humor in my opinion. It was too talkative. The movie did not show many elements as it supposed to be, found it discriminatory for other cultures that may compare themselves to it. The movie was sort of disgusting for my tastes.

Movies I Like

Black Swan
Natalie Portman, Vicent Cassell, Mila Kunis
This movie is about an exceptional ballerina who wants to do both the white and black swan in the production of Swan Lake. The director tells her that she does the white swan perfectly but not the black swan. Nina(Natalie) has a competition  with Lily(Mila) because Lily does the black swan correctly and both have some sort of tension of who gets the piece. Nina wins the part as the white swan and black swan and in the plot she tries to find different ways to be able to do the black swan. The problem that Nina has is that she wants to do both parts “perfectly” which causes her physiological problems.

I love the movie because it was so complex and intense. It showed various themes about devotion, life, sex, love, hate, perfection, horror, desperation, among others. It made you think profoundly about what was occurring in the movie and had tremendous symbolism. Also, it is interesting how they incorporate ballet, in there drama.

Bruce Almighty
Jim Carrey, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Aniston
Bruce Nolan (Jim) is a reporter of eyewitness news and is unsuccessful at getting a job as an anchorman. When trying to get promoted to a vacant anchor position, he loses his temper with Evan Baxter (Steve) and is fired. There he starts complaining about God until he gets a message to go to a place and casually meets with God. God (Morgan) gives Bruce his powers with two rules, not to tell anybody he is God and not to mess with free will. It is up to Bruce to make that a possibility.

This movie gives a different perspective of religion in everyday society and how to incorporate in a nice way with comedy. It is entertaining, inspiring, open’s one’s mind about society, shows not to complain, etc.

The Lion King
Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones
It starts by Rafiki presenting Simba, the new born son of the King and the Queen, Mufasa and Sarabi.  The character who was against his birth is Scar, Mufasa’s young brother. The movie talks about the life of Simba using the circle of life to become “The Lion King”. For instance, the death of his father, facing Scar in a deul, and the teachings of Rafiki. On his way Simba makes some new friends, Timon and Pumba, to help him.

The movie impacted me because it showcased animals in a very lovable and kind way. Very diverse themes, involving African culture in the movie which I like and the mistic elements involved in the movie. The movie showcases a very strong moral, the circle of life, pride, justice,  love, compassion, integrity, and respect.

The Da Vinci Code
Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian Mckellan, Alfred Molina
This movie is about an investigator of symbols decoding the symbolism of the Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. Leigh Teabing ( Ian Mckellan) decodes the Last Supper and says the person next to Jesus is Mary Magdalene and both had a child. This is an adventure of finding the Holy Grail. It is involved with the Illuminati.

The movie is a complete intense adventure, decoding many secrets with tremendous symbolism. It has action, love, religion, subjectivity of history, intelligence of women, etc.
The Prince of Egypt

Van Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock
This is the story of Moses, being referenced from the book of Exodus in the bible, in his trajectory from a child being discovered in the Nile by Queen Tuya to becoming the savior of the Israelites taking them away from all the abuse in Egypt. Moses learns the life of a high royal Egyptian with his step brother Ramses. One day Moses runs away by killing someone who was abusing an Israelite and escaped. He later finds a Hebrew camp and learns there culture and his roots. He then goes back to Egypt to free the Israelites.

Themes I liked include love, passion, confusion, protection, contradiction, faith, and freedom.  This movie made an impact on me because it was a good representation of the book of Exodus and it had a very calm and a spiritual feeling to the drama.
